Exercise 2B (optional) - Field of View and Estimation of Size
Calculate the diameter of the field of view for each total magnification on your microscope in millimeters
(mm) and then convert this value to micrometers (um):
Scanning (40X):
1.8 mm x 100X/40x = t 5mm = 4. 500um

Low power (100X):
FOV diameter = 1.8 mm =

1.8 mm x 100x/400X = 0. 45 mm =
450 um
High power (400X):
1.8 mm x 100X/1000x = O. 8 mm =
180 um

Expert Solution
Step 1

Paramecium : Paramecium is a genus of protozoans that are tiny, single-celled, and free-living. Most species are easily cultivated in the laboratory, making them a perfect model organisms for biological research. Paramecium range in size from 0.05 to 0.32 mm (0.002 to 0.013 inch). Like P. caudatum, whose basic shape is an extended oval with round or pointed ends.

Euglena is a flagellate eukaryote genus with single cells. It is the most well-known and studied of the 54 genera and 800 species that make up the Euglenoidea class. Euglena species can be found in both fresh and salt water environments.
