It is to be mentioned whether a batch stripper and batch rectifier can be combined or not.

Step 2

BATCH RECTIFIER:-

It is a system where there is a combination of a reboiler, a column which is composed of several plates present above the reboiler. Several other equipments like condenser, reflux drum and few receivers are present for distillation.

The components which are heavier in size are removed in preference here.

BATCH STRIPPER:-

The equipment present here are same as the batch rectifier just a difference is that the charge pot has a location above the column of stripping.

Impurities which are present in the charge are removed by this stripper.
