The three laws of Mendel are:
 
  • Law of dominance - Only the dominant gene expresses itself. The recessive gene gets suppressed
  • Law of segregation -  According to the law of segregation, only one of the two gene copies present in an organism is distributed to each gamete (egg or sperm cell) that it makes, and the allocation of the gene copies is randomWhen the sperm cell and egg cell unite during fertilization, the DNA from each cell is combined so that the offspring has two copies of each gene.
  • Law of independent assortment - Mendel's law of independent assortment states that the alleles of two (or more) different genes get sorted into gametes independently of one another. In other words, the allele a gamete receives for one gene has no influence  on the allele received for another gene.

Incomplete dominance is a modification of Mendel's laws which states that when a dominant allele is present; it or  does not completely mask the effects of a recessive allele, and the organism's  shows a blending of both the dominant and recessive alleles. It is also called semi-dominance or partial dominance.
