The virus is microscopic and is even smaller than bacteria. they remain inactive or in the form of crystals outside the host but when penetrating inside the body of the host they become active and replicate rapidly. The capsid is also known as sheath coat is a proteinaceous covering around the virus which protects the nucleotide from any physical and chemical damage. It can be helical, icosahedral, etc.
