Based on the text, what do you think the students are thinking when they are diligently copying the instructions given by the teacher instead of diving into the pool? 2. Why is the teacher so keen on making the learners jump in the swimming pool instead of just taking down notes on how to swim?
“Some students want to learn to swim. They are already in swimwear and together they stood beside the swimmingpool. They all have a notebook and a pen.
The teacher spoke. “First of all,” he said, “paddle first in the water, Then do not breathe but open your eyes and submerge in water. Then just lie down. Do not be scared, because you'll float. Then, learn to move your foot and hand. Learn to breathe. And practice and do it all over and over again. ” As he speaks, the students diligently write down everything he says.
“And now,” he continued, “here is the swimmingpool. It's time to start. Jump baby! ” No one jumped, but they were still writing every word the teacher says. “Hey, go in the water! Your notes are useless otherwise you do it. ” Still no one jumping. They are still writing notes. ”
