The COVID19 (coronavirus disease) infection is caused by the viral pathogen SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome – coronavirus 2). The virus originated from Wuhan in China in December 2019. Currently, the nucleic acid amplification test called RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) is being utilized to detect the virus.
