Question
- Look at the network communication scenario using TCP fast retransmit as shown in the following figure. The first packet Seq=100 arrives at the B successfully, but the second packet Seq = 110 with length 20 bytes was lost.
a. Please tell what are the values for ACK1, ACK2, ACK3, ACK4, and Seq1 respectively?
b. How many bytes are retransmitted finally?
Expert Solution
Step 1
First segment is successfully receive by receiver. Thus Ack = X = 110 which tell the next expected byte by Host B.
Now the second segment is lost and A is not aware of this and send 3rd , 4th, 5th segment. But host B will always acknowledege for the segment it is expecting which is Packet with sequence number 110.
So the next 3 acknowledgment will be same.
So ACK1 = ACK2 = ACK3 = ACK = 110.
