Newton-Raphson method is  used in the method of Fast Decoupled Load flow method.

These simplifications are used to solve the problems like heavy loaded systems and ill conditioned systems.

SITUATION :

Let a balanced operation of power system, the load flow analysis is carried out for a single phase system In single phase flow analysis , the power flow problem is solved for any one of the three phases by assuming that all the three voltages are equal in voltages are equal in magnitude and displayed by 120 degrees. For an n bus systems the single phase power flow analysis solves a set of 2n power equations.

In this type of situations, NR and FDLF methods are used.
