Answer Double fertilization occurs in flowering plants. In Plants, female gametophyte is an unfertilized ovule that is present in the embryo sac.
Female gametophyte cells eight in number. three antipodal cells + two synergids and one egg cell+ two polar nuclei present at the center.
Male gametophyte contains pollen grain. each pollen grain contains two male gametes. One haploid gamete fuse with the haploid egg cell and forms a diploid and another male gamete fuse with two polar nuclei present at the centre and forms a triploid nucleus this is called triple fertilization which results in the formation of endosperm
this two type of fertilization is called double fertilization.
