Ifa cockerel is castrated it becomes a capon and loses its characteristic wattles and
combs; its aggressive behaviour is also reduced. Similarly, castrating bulls and
stallions makes them less aggressive and easier to handle. However, injections of
testicular extract into capons restore both their secondary sexual (male)
characteristics and their aggressiveness.
In men, at least five sex hormones are produced in the testes, as shown in Table 1.
