Twenty percentage of potassium is found in the bones, liver and red blood cells, it functions as an electrolyte that carry a positive charge. A low or high amount of electrolytes in the body can affect many vital functions. It is the main electrolyte in the ICF that is the intracellular fluid and determines the amount of water found inside the cells. On the other hand, sodium is the main electrolyte in the ECF, that is the extracellular fluid and it determines the amount of water found outside the cells.
