Q1: answer:
A: As per the "information-processing model" the three major types of memories are sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory.
- Sensory memory:It is one of the different types of memories that make up an individual's ability to process certain things and recall what he or she sees. It is referred to as a brief precursor related to short-term memory that permits an individual to process & recall the specific sensations he or she takes in. Example: Seeing a cat or smelling soup.
- Short-term memory:It is described as a type of memory that is considered as involving an extremely limited number of certain items that human beings are capable of maintaining in their minds at one time.Example: What an individual had in lunch today.
- Long-term memory: It is referred to as a memory that stores specific information for an extended time. When an individual is capable of remembering something that has happened more than a few minutes ago, even if it occurred "hours ago" or "decades earlier" it is supposed to be in the long-term memory.Example: "Bicycle riding skills" that an individual has learned in his or her childhood.
B:Short-term memory consists of two distinct components or sub-parts including:
- Visual-spatial memory:Visual memory is accountable for keeping visual colors and shapes whereas spatial memory is accountable for information associated with movements and locations.
- Auditory or verbal memory: It comprises specific numbers of different cognitive processes.
Long term memory consists of two distinct sub-parts or components including:
- Explicit memory:It is described as the intentional, conscious recollection of concepts, factual information, and previous experiences. It is further divided into semantic memory {factual information} and episodic memory {personal experiences}. It is also referred to as "declarative memory".
- Implicit memory:It is described as an automatic or unconscious memory. Implicit memory tends to use former experiences to recall things without actually thinking about them. It is also referred to as "procedural memory".
![A good answer doesn't have to be lengthy, it just needs to hit all the main points. You should be able to answer the questions with 100-150 words.
1: A. Name and describe the three major TYPES of memories according to the information-processing model [I'm NOT asking for memory processes
such as encoding or retrieval]. B. Two of these types of memories have subcomponents. For each memory type, provide an example from your own
personal memory. Hint: one of the three is sensory memory.
2. A. Using what you know about how memory works and ways to enhance memory, devise a strategy for yourself on how to improve your recall
ability for study material. B. Include three enhancement techniques from the memory chapter to support your strategy.](/v2/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.bartleby.com%2Fqna-images%2Fquestion%2F0adebd09-c821-48e3-ac78-3f625bb94edc%2Fc924740c-bd86-4be0-bbd6-5e4af24bd665%2F2bdt47q_processed.png&w=3840&q=75)
