We have been asked to determine the what will be resistance of wire when stretched.

 

We know that,

R = ς la

 

Where,

l = Length of the wire

 

Now we multiply and divide the RHS with l so we get,

 

R = ς la * ll

 

R = ς l2a * l

 

Now we know that a * l means area * length = Volume (V) so,

 

R = ς l2V

 

Now if we stretch the wire the volume and constant ς remains unchanged (Constant) so we can neglect that so our equation becomes,

 

R = l2

 

In other word we can say that,

 

R2R1 = l2l12

 

Where,

R1 = Resistance when length is l1 and,
