Step 1: Define the terms diode

A diode contains two terminals which allows the flow of current only in one direction. It allows to flow of the current from the anode to the cathode terminal. It will block the flow of the current in the reverse direction.

It is used for the conversion of AC power into DC power. Mostly it is used in electronic circuits.
