Oogenesis
The formation of the ovum (mature female gamete) from undifferentiated germ cells is called oogenesis. This process takes place in the ovaries (female gonads). Oogenesis consists of three stages known as the multiplication phase, growth phase, and maturation phase.
Cell Division
Cell division involves the formation of new daughter cells from the parent cells. It is a part of the cell cycle that takes place in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Cell division is required for three main reasons:
A thorough review of cell cycle progression and regulation
The cell cycle is the life cycle of the cell which involves the series of events that cause the cell to divide into two daughter cells. The cells divide for the growth and development of organisms. The cell cycle involves steps in which the cell increases its size, copies its DNA, and prepares to divide. The cell decides whether it should enter the cell cycle and divide on the basis of the stimulatory and inhibitory messages it recieves.
