A study is conducted to find out if there is any relationship between temperature (°C) and cold drink sales (RM) in several selected days. The data are given as follows. 38.7 37.3 36.8 39.5 39 Temperature, x Cold drink sale, y 500 300 240 41.2 38.7 38.5 40.4 41.8 39.7 1000 650 1200 700 | 550 | 800 850 | 1000 Ex=431.6 Ey=7790 E=16957.34 E=6415100 E²=6415100 Ew= 309477 a) Construct an estimated linear regression model. b) Test the significance of linear relationship between temperature and cold drink sales at 5% level of significance. c) Predict the cold drink sales if the temperature is 37°C.
Inverse Normal Distribution
The method used for finding the corresponding z-critical value in a normal distribution using the known probability is said to be an inverse normal distribution. The inverse normal distribution is a continuous probability distribution with a family of two parameters.
Mean, Median, Mode
It is a descriptive summary of a data set. It can be defined by using some of the measures. The central tendencies do not provide information regarding individual data from the dataset. However, they give a summary of the data set. The central tendency or measure of central tendency is a central or typical value for a probability distribution.
Z-Scores
A z-score is a unit of measurement used in statistics to describe the position of a raw score in terms of its distance from the mean, measured with reference to standard deviation from the mean. Z-scores are useful in statistics because they allow comparison between two scores that belong to different normal distributions.
