A slope failure was discovered at Perak which occured on Sep 2021. A 3-day Intermittent rainfall and followed by 1-day heavy downpour were observed prior to the slope failure. Due to this failure, the only access road to few aborigin villages and hydropower plant was cut off.Based on site measurement, the slope is about 10m height and itis estimated that the failure plane started at one-third from the crest and along the slope face and ended at the toe the slope angle is about 75o. The properties of soils are as follows; unit weight 22kN/m3, cohesion: c’ 5kN/m2and friction angle: 27o.Based on field test for soil classification, the following characteristics were observed:•The soil feels gritty when rubbed against 2 fingers.•Easily mould and crushed in the fingers.•The soil particles stick together•The soil crack when mould Explain failure mechanism of this slope.?
