A researcher creates a new test for aggression levels. To assess the tests validity, its performance is compared to a previous test for aggression that has very high validity. Both tests are administered at about the same time; aggression levels are measured with the researcher's new test on one day, and on the next day, with the established test. What type of validity is being assessed here? A. Predictive Validity B. Concurrent Validity C. Face Validity D. Discriminent Validity

Expert Solution
Step 1

Validity in research means how good the measure is. Validity of a test is whether a test measure what it is supposed to measure. High validity means the test is good. To determine validity several measures are developed.

Predictive validity predicts score on some criteria. For example, a class test has a criteria of passing marks. The scores are predicted according to it

Concurrent validity tests a new test with some established test.

Face validity means the test should look like it is measuring the right characteristics.

Discriminant validity shows no correlation between variables.
