A record player which is also known as a phonograph record , is a device the stores audio as analog signals . The type of record player varies with respect to the diameter of the disc , rotational speed of the player and the time capacity which depends on both rotational speed and diameter.

 

The playing time in a player is directly proportional to the groove length and inversely to the rotational speed  The higher the  rotational speed of the player lesser will be the time capacity. The standard speed of the player is 78 rpm, because at this parameter the playing time will be less and the quality of the sound produced will be good. If the rotational speed is less than  78 rpm, then the playing time and quality of the sound will be less.

Sound waves are produced from the vibrations of diaphragm , when the sound waves falls on it due to the action of the needle in the player.
