A random sample of 25 Berkeley College students was asked, “How many hours per week typically do you work outside the home?”  Their responses were as follows:     {0, 40, 25, 38, 35, 40, 37, 27, 35, 36, 18, 5, 20, 25, 37, 30, 5, 0, 30, 14, 28, 30, 35, 37, 18} 1. Is this data set discrete or continuous?  Explain your answer in detail.  2. Find the mean of hours worked outside the home for the sample data.  Explain how you obtained your answer in detail.   3.  Find the median (please show how you got your median and explain how you obtained your answer in detail.) Also, describe why the median is sometimes preferable to the mean. ( In other words, why is it better to use the median as the best measure of center instead of the mean?)

Question

A random sample of 25 Berkeley College students was asked, “How many hours per week typically do you work outside the home?”  Their responses were as follows:

    {0, 40, 25, 38, 35, 40, 37, 27, 35, 36, 18, 5, 20, 25, 37, 30, 5, 0, 30, 14, 28, 30, 35, 37, 18}

4. Is there a mode?  Why or why not? Explain how you got your mode.

5. Determine the shape of the distribution of hours worked by comparing the mean and the median, as well as, by drawing a frequency histogram.   (Make sure to include your frequency distribution to justify your frequency histogram.)

6.   Find the five-number summary of the hours worked outside of the home by the 25 Berkeley College students.  Show all your work and explain how you got your five number summary!!
