Example (1)
M
The given drawing is (explaining plan) of a concrete frame building located on a land area of 387.5 m² with main
frontage length of 15.5 m, the building is opened on all sides (detached from other building or no any
building adjacent). The works are in phase of constructing elements for first covering of the ground floor frame
, i.e. (casting concrete of beams and ceiling slab elements of the G.F), where constructed works previously was of the
elements [(25 x 15.5 x 0.55) m as raft-mat foundation, and 12 columns of size (0.5 x 0.5 x 3.9) m].
Note: The stairways and elevators access area of the building are laterally as a shaft box separated from the
given area (387.5 m²), and the building (for all sides) without any extended cantilever ceiling slab.
1- Estimate the quantities of works and required construction materials for (in-site) concrete casting of the beams
and ceiling slab for the ground floor, where the beams of cross sectional dimension of (0.5x0.7) m and the ceiling
slab of depth (0.16) m
A-quantity of the wood shuttering works ( frameworks) in (m²) for the :
B-quantity of the concrete casting works in (m³)
beams
C- quantity of the required reinforcing steel rebars in (ton) for the:
ceiling slab
D-quantities of the required (cement, sand, gravel and water) for casting concrete of M15 (or type B)
Estimate the totally (wages, expenses and costs) of the construction works and purchasing of materials, if
you know that:
a-wood shuttering framework wages with all requirements are 4.2 $/m²
b-purchasing prices with transporting expenses to the site are
steel rebars 395 $/ton, cement 48 $/ton, sand 9 $/m³, gravel 6 $/m³ and water 2 cent/liter
c-wages of steel rebars-reinforcing works with all its requirements are 75 $/ton
d-totally wages of ( in-site) concrete casting work for all its (labors team, machineries and equipments) are 15 $/m³
No. of columns 12 with
dimension 0.5 x 0.5 m
When the referred construction works are successfully done, and the poured concrete will cured and been.
hardened, after 2 weeks when wood shuttering framework is opened and unfastened. Estimate the carried loads
on the columns in (kg/cm2) due to the weights of the casted (beams and ceiling slab) and compare that
loads (for checking) with the allowable minimum design compressive strength of concrete M15 (or type B).
