A photocopy of a polygon was reduced to 50% of its original size. Then, the copy was again reduced to 50% of its size. a. Is the second photocopy similar to the original? b. What is the ratio of the corresponding sides of the second photocopy to the original? a. Is the second photocopy similar to the original? O A. No, because the angles are not the same and the corresponding sides are proportional. O B. Yes, because the angles stay the same but the corresponding sides are not proportional. O C. No, because the angles stay the same and the corresponding sides are proportional. O D. Yes, because the angles stay the same and the corresponding sides are proportional. b. What is the ratio of the corresponding sides of the second photocopy to the original? (Round to four decimal places as needed.)

Expert Solution
Step 1

A n-gon consists of n number of vertices and edges joining the adjacent vertices. If it is a regular n-gon then it's edges have equal length and angle made by an edge  in the center is 2π/n. But for general polygon we haven't this type of property. If a side of a polygon is of length L cm then after taking twice photocopy with the described way the length of the corresponding  side or edge of the new polygon become L/4 cm and angle between any two edges and there corresponding new edges  remains same after taking twice photocopy with prescribed way.
