Question

A person must have at least one functioning kidney to
survive. Why do you think a lack of kidneys is deadly?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The kidney is referred to as the paired organs which are bean-shaped in structure lie on both the sides of the spine just inferior to the ribs and posterior to the belly. The kidney is averagely 4 to 5 inches in length and is principally accountable for blood filtration.

Step 2

Kidney plays a crucial role in human body and if they stop functioning the body gets filled with an extra water and waste products and this condition is known as Uremia. As kidneys are principally accountable for cleaning the blood and helps the body to get rid of waste products. In Uremia the extra water may cause swelling of hands and feet and a person may start feeling tired and weak because the body needs clean and filtered blood to function properly and this condition may cause seizures or coma and ultimately can be fatal.
