Ventricular Fibrillation:

Ventricular fibrillation (V-fib or VF) is a heart rhythm disorder in which the heart's ventricles tremble. It's caused by a jumble of electrical activity. Ventricular fibrillation causes cardiac arrest, which is characterised by loss of consciousness and the absence of a pulse. In the absence of therapy, this is followed by death. Ventricular fibrillation is discovered in around 10% of persons who have cardiac arrest.

Coronary heart disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, Brugada syndrome, long QT syndrome, electric shock, or cerebral haemorrhage can all cause ventricular fibrillation. An electrocardiogram (ECG) is used to diagnose the condition, which shows irregular, unformed QRS complexes with no discernible P waves. Torsades de pointes is an essential differential diagnosis.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation are used to treat the patient.Biphasic defibrillation may be preferable to monophasic defibrillation. If the first treatments don't work, epinephrine or amiodarone may be prescribed.
