Boyle's law states that the pressure exerted by a given mass of an ideal gas is inversely proportional to the volume occupied by the gas at constant temperature. Mathematically, Boyle's law can be expressed as,

                                                                                   

                                                               or,  PV = constant

where, P is the pressure of the gas

           V is the volume of the gas

         For comparing the same substance under two different sets of pressure Pand P2 and volume Vand V2 at constant temperature, the law can be expressed as:

The volume V2 at pressure P2 can thus be calculated as,
