Step 1: Voltage measured by the meter

(a) Applying KVL in the loop, -12 + vR + vm = 0

                                               or vR + v= 12  .. (1)

                              iR = - 2 A

                             vR = 25 iR = 25 X -2 = -50 V

                             Substituting vR in (1), we get

                                            -50 + v= 12

                                     Voltage measured by the meter, vm = 50 + 12 = 62 V
