4 (a) A case study has been conducted by researcher at UTHM to study the fatality
causes and trend in Batu Pahat. According to the researchers, the average
number of car accident per year in Batu Pahat is 6.
(i) What type of probability distributions for this case? State two reasons.
(11) Find the probability there will be between 4 and 8 car accident per year
by using statistics table.
Calculate the variance and standard deviation of car accident per year.
(b) The steel bars type A have a mean thickness of 14.8 mm with a standard
deviation of 1.2 mm. The steel bars of type B have a mean thickness of
12.9 mm with a standard deviation of 1.5 mm. Two samples of size 12 and
15 are randomly selected from steel bar of type A and B respectively. Find
the probability that the mean of type A is two mm more than the mean of
type B.
