Expert Solution
Step 1

Answer:-

Given

Mass of first cart (m1) = 3 kg

Mass of second cart(m2) = 4 kg

Initial velocity of first cart (u1) = 5 m/s

Initial velocity of second Cart (u2) = 0 m/s

Final velocity of first cart(V1) = 0 m/s

Final velocity of second cart (V2) = ?

We know that

According to conservation of linear momentum.

m1u + m2u2 = m1V1+ m2V2

(3 × 5) + (4 × 0) = (3 × 0) + 4 × V2

15 + 0 = 0 + 4 V

4 V2 = 15
