90° Refer to right triangle ABC with C = If a 4 and c 18, find b b = X
Equations and Inequations
Equations and inequalities describe the relationship between two mathematical expressions.
Linear Functions
A linear function can just be a constant, or it can be the constant multiplied with the variable like x or y. If the variables are of the form, x2, x1/2 or y2 it is not linear. The exponent over the variables should always be 1.
When I compute these answers, I keep getting a number with decimals. But the system with my class wants a whole number with a square number next to it. My question is to use the py. theorem to find b if a=4 and c=18. I keep getting 17.549... because I'm finding 18^2, then subtracting 4^2. Then I square the answer and get the 17.549 but that must not be right. For one of the examples, it is a=2 and c=18 and the correct answer is 8√5. How do I find that type of answer with a number with a squared number attached to it?
