A baseline dental survey was conducted in the National Capital Region of Country P in 2005 in all the public and private elementary and secondary schools. Country M is a multiracial nation, made up of Malays, Chinese and Indo- Pakistani. A total of 15119 pupils age 6 18 years where examined, of whom 23.44% where found to have some form of dental/oral afflictions. The sample is distributed as follows Malays 53.36%, Chinese 36.15%, and Indo-Pakistani 10.49%. The Malays where found to have the highest prevalence of dental afflictions (26.55%), the Indo-Pakistani (24.90%), and the Chinese showing the least prevalence (18.42%). A total of 2610 were found to have some form of dental pain at the time of the survey or within 6 weeks immediately before the survey. 50 had bone abnormalities and 884 had soft tissue abnormalities. The Indo-Pakistani had the highest prevalence ratio of dental pain (20.55%). There were 1601 Malays with dental pain giving a prevalence ratio of 19.84%. 683 Chinese also were with dental pain. With regards to bone abnormalities, 15 Malays were found to suffer from these conditions, followed by 25 Chinese and 10 Indo-Pakistanis. The Malays had the highest soft-tissue abnormalities (59.5% of total soft-tissue abnormalities), followed by the Chinese (33.82%). Present the complete information in tabulation.
