Objective 3: Order of Operations - Exponents and Square Roots
As a reminder, here is a review of the order of operations when evaluating expressions.
Order of Operations
1. Perform all operations within grouping symbols (parenthesis or brackets) or under a
square root symbol. When you have more than one set of such symbols, start with the
inner most set and work your way out.
2. Exponents and radicals.
3. Perform multiplication and division, working left to right.
4. Perform addition and subtraction, working left to right.
Use order of operations to evaluate each of the following expressions. Where rounding is
necessary, round to two decimal places. Use you calculator to verify your result and circle your
final answer.
