Step 1
Dual mode pacemakers paces both the atrial and ventricular chambers. The DDD mode or the mode in which pacing and sensing of both atria & ventricles occurs is the commonest. In this mode pacing of the Atria happens when no atrial activity is detected for a set time and ventricular pacing is initiated if no native ventricular activity is detected following and atrial activity. In which mode the function of the atrial channel is suspended for picsart duration following the atrial and ventricular activity. This helps to prevent sensing of ventricular activity or retrograde P wave as native atrial activity.
