1. Diagram the floor plan for the main floor of your home. Locate the service entrance panel. If it is located on the main floor, draw its location on your floor plan and label it "S.E.P." If it is not on the main floor, add some text on your floor plan that informs the reader of its location. Next, locate every switch, receptacle (accessible ones only), lighting fixture, and fan fixture on the main floor of your home. Refer to the Table of “Electrical Symbols and
Outlets” and place those symbols that correspond to the items on your floor plan in the approximate location they are found in the rooms. Draw dashed lines from switches to the lighting fixtures, split-circuit receptacles (those controlled by a switch) or the fans they control. Create a tabulated load schedule of your home.
