A 70 year old male patient was admitted 2 days ago to the geriatric unit for complaints of a UTI. The nurse doing rounds on her patient observed drowsiness, but was able to answer questions appropriately. The patient has a history of Addison's disease, discontinuation of IVF - NS 0.9%. The client is to be discharged home for 14 doses of Augmentin. 45 minutes after the patient was given her d/c instructions, the client begins to experience/exhibit the following:
- Drowsy and confused to place and situation
- Reports blurry vision
- Respirations equal and unlabored
- Vitals: T97 (oral), P88 (regular), R14, BP 98/44, SPO2 96% room air
- Skin is cool and diaphoretic
- Areas of skin hyperpigmentation
- Joint pain listed as a 2/10
