Transcribed Image Text:To modulate a pulse carrier with sinusoidal signal to obtain a Pulse Position
Communication system lab.
Experiment 3: Pulse position Modulation
Department of EME
Object:
Modulated signal.
EQUIPMENT:
1. Experimental training board.
2. Oscilloscope.
lab
THEORY:
The amplitude and width of the pulses is kept constant in this system, while
the position of each pulse is varied by each instantaneous sampled value of the
modulating wave. Pulse Position Modulation(PPM) has the advantage of
requiring constant transmitter power output, but the disadvantage of depending
on transmitter receiver synchronization.
PROCETURE:
1. Connect the CRO probe to the socket marketed TP2,the wave form should be
a sinusoidal as shown in fig.2(a).
2. Now move the CRO probe from TP2 and connect it to TP1.the waveform here
should resemble that of fig.2(b)i.e., a pulse train(carrier).
3. Connect TP1 to input terminal & TP2 to input terminals and switch on the
main supply. Observe the waveform on the CRO at TP3.
DISCUSSION:
1-Why PPM is said to be better than PWM?
2-What are the disadvantages of PPM?
3-Discuss your results?
