What importance does this differentiation have in modern society?
2) In Barbara Risman's, "Gender as Structure" reading, she argues that traditional and heterosexual marriage reproduces
gender inequality. She discusses how there are gendered rules and cultural expectations influence husbands and wives to
behave accordingly. One example of this is husbands with low wage jobs are pressured to provide more for the family. Or,
even when women work outside the home and bring home similar wages women still do most of the household work. What
are other examples of this? Do you agree or disagree with Risman? Why or why not?
