. Describe the five functions of the circulatory system.

Circulatory system has the heart, blood vessels and blood. It consists of 2 circuits namely pulmonary circuit and systemic circuit. The primary function of this system is to provide the body with the oxygenated blood along with the nutrients which are transported in the blood.
The pulmonary circuit carries the deoxygenated blood to the lungs where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place which the body has disposed of. The heart is divided into 4 chambers , upper two atria and lower ventricles. Atria are responsible for collecting blood whereas ventricles push the blood out of the heart to the various organs.
Circulatory system is also called the vascular system and is made up of vessels that carry blood and lymph through the body. This helps in carrying nutrients and hormones essential for a proper functioning along with oxygen to the different organs of the body. Along with this function, it performs another very important role simultaneously which is by collecting gaseous waste , carbon dioxide from the organs of our body. Blood is responsible for carrying waste substances to the organs that remove and process the waste for elimination.
