Aarica Brittany SCS 285 Research Literacy in Social Sciences Patrick McManimon December 4, 2023 6-1 Journal: Research Questions and Dad Collection Methods I used data collection methods for mixed-methods and qualitative research, which includes interviews, surveys, and field observations, which are often the most useful tools. When you use quantitative data along with mixed collection methods, your research will often require statistical methods as well. A mixed methodology using a combination of interviews, secondary data analysis, surveys, and statistical analysis is most effective. Using mixed-methods research questions with a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods gives the most credibility and data that is considered dependable in research. The characteristics of using the qualitative data method for collecting information are that it is the most appropriate choice because the data used has a wider range of flexibility and can be used for multiple things. This style of characteristic gives the most accuracy while making data collection useful by consistently giving

you creative questions, so you can be more specific in how you do your research when you have questions to create for it. Using a mixed methodology for collecting data is the best choice, given that questions must be used quantitatively. A qualitative method gives you data that can be more interactive because you can engage more freely. Using qualitative methods is about creating a unique way of collecting data instead of using methods that make it less complex. A quantitative method is often straightforward and to the point, which is needed when you don’t want to take too much time. This, I believe, is a good way to keep things accurate and get plenty of information needed for something more authentic. When you use qualitative, it is more about why and how for a broader understanding. Quantitative methods are quick when it comes to the results of your research and are often very reliable. A drawback can be with qualitative methods due to their being very time-consuming, and oftentimes results aren’t always verified because they simply can't be. When using quantitative methods, sometimes they give no specific motive with responses from participants. This can cause those participating to give a response to not reach the right population and gives only those who are not represented as much. This is one of the great challenges and often a big drawback, making it difficult to move past limitations in results, which is not good because it may seem less accurate in the end.
