Foreign Policy
Countering Terrorism
Who? & When?
Our President Joe Biden currently is dealing with
many foreign policy issues. Helping him in many
foreign policies in the executive branch “
Department
of State works to build global consensus to degrade
and defeat these adversaries.
Through a combination
of
diplomatic
engagement
and
foreign
assistance”(“Countering Terriorism”, 2023). This issue
and major focus on Countering terrorism had begun
being a main focus and worry after the 9/11 attacks. “
After the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, President George W. Bush
announced a comprehensive plan to seek out and stop terrorists around the
world”(
“Global war on terror”, n.d). Now we still continue and try to guard our country. As of
now the person in charge of those issues is “
Antony J. Blinken
was sworn in as the
71st U.S. Secretary of State on January 26, 2021”(“The secretary of State”,
2022).
What?
The issue with foreign policy of countering terrorism is widespread
across the globe, but the worry has been amplified in the U.S. due to the
attack on 9/11.
“Counter-terrorism focuses on improving awareness of the
threat, developing capabilities to prepare and respond, and enhancing
engagement with partner countries and other international actors.”(Nato,
2023). Especially in third world countries others could easily become
overrun by terrorists due to the lack of government ruling. Our U.S.
government and departments, such as the Department of State, work daily
to avoid such issues to keep this country safe from terrorism and other
foreign policy issues.
Where?
Here in the U.S., we haven’t been targeted as a central attack from the
terrorist groups around the world.“The deadliest terrorist groups in the
world in 2022 were Islamic State (IS) and its affiliates, followed by al-
Shabaab, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Jamaat Nusrat Al-Islam
wal Muslimeen (JNIM)” (
“Global Terrorism Index 2023”, 2023).
After the 9/11 attacks the
U.S decided to keep watch and follow any moves made by ISIS, but in that the department of
state also decided to watch our borders closely to prevent an attack from any other deadly attacks
from the other terrorist groups.
Why?
The U.S. department of state's mission in combating terrorism is to
keep our government safe and achieve security in this nation. “The Bureau
of Counterterrorism's mission is to promote U.S. national security by taking
a leading role in developing coordinated strategies and approaches to
defeat terrorism abroad and securing the counterterrorism cooperation of
international partners” (“
Bureau of Counterterrorism”, 2023)
How?
We have issues and need
to strengthen law enforcement and judicial
capabilities, expand aviation and border security, deepen global information
sharing, counter terrorist financing, improve crisis response, and counter
violent extremism. We use help from the department of state to strengthen
and solve these issues. These two departments work together to counter the
issue of terrorism.

Inaugural Addressby Nelson Mandela (excerpt)
We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, non-sexism, non-racialism and democracy.
We deeply appreciate the role that the masses of our people and their political mass democratic, religious, women, youth, business, traditional and other leaders have played to bring about this conclusion. Not least among them is my Second Deputy President, the Honourable F. W. de Klerk.
We would also like to pay tribute to our security forces, in all their ranks, for the distinguished role they have played in securing our first democratic elections and the transition to democracy, from blood-thirsty forces which still refuse to see the light.

What I Can Do
Read and analyze the situation below; then answer the question given.
A typhoon severely damaged a certain place in Bundok Peninsula Quezon
Province. The wealthiest family in that area who happened to have large
businesses have thought of a way to help SME's or the small business enterprises
to recover, as well as those poor families affected by the said typhoon. The family
then decided to allot funds to lend to those who are victims of calamity by giving
a simple interest loan for only 10% per annum. If the family was able to lend
P1,500,000.00, how much interest would be earned after 5 years? Use a model
table discussed in this lesson to show the simple interest earned. What do you
think about Filipino values being shown in this situation? Can you think of other
means to help the community with an application of simple interest? Your output
will be graded, according to this rubric.

The First Peoples of BC have always had a close relationship with the land.
"Traditional Ecological Knowledge is, above all, local knowledge based in people’s relationship to place. It is also holistic, not subject to the segmentation of contemporary science. Knowledge about a specific plant may include understanding its life cycle, its spiritual connections, its relationship to the seasons and with other plants and animals in its ecosystem, as well as its uses and its stories."
- Science First Peoples Teacher Resource Guide by First Nations Education Steering Committee
To support seasonal food gathering and assess the health of plants and animals, First Peoples closely monitor seasonal changes and climate. Reliable information of weather patterns, ocean currents, and tides is crticial to safely conduct seasonal food gathering along the coast. Currently, there have been increased observations of environmental change, which is of concern to First Peoples and their relationship…

Topic. Restaurant Chain 11
Question Help *
A national restaurant chain is composed of 6500 restaurants, each of which is located in close proximity to an interstate highway. The restaurant's business strategy is to serve its core customer base: people travelling on the interstate highway
system who are looking for a quality dining experience. Customers generally enjoy the restaurant chain's menu, atmosphere, and consistency from restaurant to restaurant. The company's leadership, located at corporate headquarters, is very
interested in the relationship between the cost of a gallon of gasoline and the company's revenue. Specifically, the company is concerned that if gasoline prices rise in the near future, the company's revenue will decline dramatically. The
company's research department recently collected data for analysis in order to support leadership's upcoming discussion of whether the company should expand and diversify to locations away from an interstate highway. Annual revenue…

Types of Compensation
People don't work for free, and how much employees are paid for their work
is a complicated issue. Also, designing a fair compensation plan is an
important task because pay and benefits represent a substantial portion of an
organization's expenses. Wages that are too high may result in the company's
products being priced too high, making them uncompetitive in the market.
Wages that are too low may damage employee morale and result in costly
turnover.
Financial compensation falls into two categories: wages and salaries.
Additionally, there are three common types of financial incentives:
commission, bonuses, and profit sharing.
Read the statements describing compensation attributes and the various
employee examples and select the most appropriate form of compensation
each describes.

The member category refers to visitors who pay an annual fee to support the zoo.
Members receive certain benefits such as discounts on merchandise and tips planned by
the zoo. The school category includes faculty and students from day care and
elementary and secondary schools; these visitors generally receive a discounted rate.
The general category includes all other visitors. The zoo has been concerned about a
recent drop in attendance. To help better understand attendance and membership, a

18. Charity Navigator is America’s leading independent charity evaluator. The following data show the total expenses (, the percentage of the total budget spent on administrative expenses, the percentage spent on fundraising, and the percentage spent on program expenses for supersized charities (Charity Navigator website). Administrative expenses include overhead, administrative staff and associated costs, and organizational meetings. Fundraising expenses are what a charity spends to raise money, and program expenses are what the charity spends on the programs and services it exists to deliver. The sum of the three percentages does not add to because of rounding. Do not round your intermediate calculations.

Hospital Beds. The number of hospital beds available in community hospitals is decreasing. Through advancement in care and technology, hospitals are getting more efficient. However, the aging and increasingly obese and diabetic population intensifies the need. The American Hospital Association Annual Survey, published by the American Hospital Association (AHA), gave the number of hospital beds available per 1000 people for each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia for 2010. Following is a stem-and-leaf diagram of the data. The stems represent units and the leaves tenths (e.g., the first entry is 1.7).
How many states (including the District of Columbia) had
a. at least three but less than four hospital beds per 1000 people available?
b. at least four and a half hospital beds per 1000 people available?
