The advocacy issue for a student-centered challenge based on your research, data, and its effect on students in terms of student achievement, attendance, or behavior. Black students at Shakopee High School are enrolled in 5% less accelerated classes than their white peers. This is a problem because all students should have equitable access to the same advanced courses and college readiness. Target population and age group: Black students in 9 th -12 th grade How does this problem impact student social-emotional, academic, and/or career success? Students in these courses build better academic habits and are more likely to pursue post-secondary education. Impact of the problem in your school community? (Include data/resources to support your points. Use APA formatting to cite your sources.) Students in accelerated courses and college preparedness courses graduate at a higher rate. Black students are currentlyngraduating at 69%. This is 20% less than their white peers. SMART Goal Template Academic Year 2023 to 2025 Identify outcome data (achievement, attendance or discipline) that serves as basis for goal: Black students’ enrollment discrepancy in accelerated courses in grades 9 – 12 will decrease from 5% in fall of 2023 to 3% by spring 2025.
