Systematic sampling b. Simple random sampling c. Cluster sampling d. Convenience sampling e. Stratified sampling 1.3 10. Tempered glass - Observational: the researcher is conducting the study by observing whether the glass can withstand the heat they need to use for the cars. 12. Touch therapy - Experimental: emily is conducting an experiment to test professional touch where the therapist h was chosen. 20.vaccines and autism - Meta-analysis: the experiment was created to determine the relation between the two subjects. they also are conducting the data based on past research. 22. Reaction time - The results from each group could be affected since the groups are totally different (parents versus non-parents) The physiologist could collect the data and keep them separately rather than comparing them. 26. Athletes foot - The physicians could show favorfor the cream and choose to assess the results with biases. The result groups ( cream versus placebo) could be kept secret until the trial is over 2.1 10. Reaction times
- Quantitative, because the data collected from the reaction times are are measured in Seconds which is in numerical form 12. Physicians - Qualitative, because the physicians are place into different categories 22. Coffee - Discrete, because the coffee is measured by the cup so the data is collected with gaps since they are measuring by whole cups 26. Aircraft traffic - Continuous, because each aircraft can be deployed or land at any time at any given moment. 2.2 10. Waste transfer station - Systematic error, because the weight for each house will always be 10 extra pounds. 12. Crime statistics - Random error, because the crimes that aren't reported effect the outcome of the statistics randomly because we would never know how many crimes are not being reported when gathering data. In addition to the textbook questions, answer the following questions. You may want to wait until Monday to answer question 1 until Monday. 1. For each one of the statements describe in detail if it makes sense (or is clearly true) or does not make sense (or is clearly false) a. The percentage of claims increased by 200% from 2014. It went from 1000 claims to 2000 claims. - Does make sense This could be true since we don't know what 200% represent when it comes to claims b. The price of a stock increased by 2% and then decreased by 2%, so the price of the stock is the same. - Does not make sense The price will not go back to the original price because it would be lower then before. c. The price of a book decreased by 200%. - Does not make sense This has to be a false claim since a price usually can decrease by more than 100%
