ASSIGNMENT PREFLECTION 2 What is service learning and social responsibility to you? Service Learning is defined as the ability through which a person is able to work in the best interests for the community in general. This is defined as the overall ability in which a person is able to plan, design and therefore act on key initiatives to make the community better. An example of service learning to me is volunteering and therefore this is based on the ability through which a person ensures that the interests of the community are considered. Social responsibility to me is defined as the needs of the community that have to be addressed by balancing it with the goals of maximizing profits in this sense. An example of social responsibility is charity events an organization conducts in this sense. The reason of doing so is to ensure that the overall ability of the community is well considered in this sense. Which service organization did you select, and who is your contact (Name, title, address, and phone)? The service organization I selected is Humane society of Tampa Bay. It is located in 3607 N Armenia Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33607. The phone number to contact is (813)-291-7357 and the email address is Volunteer@HumaneSocietyTampa.org . Why did you select this service organization and what needs within the community does the organization serve? I selected this service organization because it focuses on the pet adoption and caring for them. Many pets are either being abused by owners or those that have simply been abandoned. This organization therefore has a mission to address the needs of the

ASSIGNMENT PREFLECTION 3 community by caring for pets and has facilities to ensure pets have the best health and well being. What other groups/individuals/communities (if any) could benefit from the types of services provided by this organization? A lot of groups may benefit. These include hospital services because the pets are being treated and therefore cared for in this sense. The second group which also benefits is Veterinary Services and that is because these groups utilize pet care to the greatest level. Then there is the Online pharmacies which also benefit because their purpose is for the prescribed medications to be brought about and then there are shelter services which also benefit because the focus is on pet care in this sense. Does the organization have a mission and/or vision statement and if so what is it? The mission of this organization is to bring end with respect to homelessness that animals face and therefore ensure care for animals along with the overall comfort that they can hence experience with the friend that is needed. The vision is to lead the means in which businesses are seen since every life matters. What do you think you might learn from this project? What specific business expertise do you anticipate contributing/developing within the service organization? I would learn from this project by trying to focus on means in which the social responsibility is best ensured and therefore I would learn skills in leadership by trying to focus on community needs in general and therefore this is based on the ability in which it is about leading from the front. Then I expect to also learn skills in problem solving since the main focus is on solving the issue of animal homeless and then I also expect
