SOC 112 Module Four Worksheet Wealth Inequality in America Watch the video Wealth Inequality in America (the captioned video is available at Wealth Inequality in America CC ). Then read the article “Income Inequality in America: Understanding Wealth Inequality, Its Causes, and Solutions” (in Module Four Resources). Finally, answer the following questions in complete sentences (1–3 sentences per question). You will need to support your answers with at least one scholarly source. Your responses will be graded using the Module Four Worksheet Rubric. To complete this worksheet, replace the bracketed text with the relevant information. Questions Your Answers 1. Describe your initial reaction to the concepts in this video. After watching the YouTube findings of wealth distribution and inequality in America it indeed shows shockingly skewed actualization over the ideal distribution of cashflow throughout the nation. Americans don't even register they're down to pocket change in the middle class is barely distinguishable from the poor class, in fact even the rich between the top 10% and the 20% center or worse off only the top 10% are better off and they are so much better off that the top 2 and 5% are actually off of the chart of the actual scale presented on the YouTube documentary that reveals the reality of the wealth distribution that hasn’t even touching the poorest of the nation. 2. Did any of the information in the video surprise you? Why or why not? Dreaded socialism would mean all the wealth of the country distributed equally just simply won’t work because someone decided we needed a nation of workers instead of thinkers to keep the nation moving forward. So why does 92% of Americans republican and Democrat alike choose that the ideal distribution is the reality? So given this information, yes I would like to think that the chart displayed presenting the 92% of Americans also assuming that this ideal chart is reality is insanity. 3. Discuss how a person’s social class (also referred to as socioeconomic status) can affect his or her chances of success. 250 years of oppression and 250 years just to catchup. I believe what I see on the streets, in the media of influences pointing out the homeless epidemics around the southern parts of America predominately where wealth is stripped by taxing and underfunding states with necessities. We are seeing it in this digital age where anyone anywhere around the world can stay connected and report on these matters.
