For some who define Christianity within the doctrines of Catholicism, Eastern and Oriental Orthodoxy, the Churches of the East, and Protestantism, Mormonism's differences place it outside the umbrella of Christianity. - What are the Mormon scriptures? + the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. - Why do Mormons refer to themselves as "latter-day saints"? +The qualification "latter-day" refers to the doctrine that members are living in the "latter days", before the Second Coming of Christ, and is used to distinguish the members of the church, which considers itself the restoration of the ancient Christian church. - What is the LDS concept of God? + God the Father is the Supreme Being in whom we believe, whom we worship, and to whom we pray. He is the ultimate Creator, Ruler, and Preserver of all things. He is perfect, has all power, and knows all things. - What do Mormons prefer to be called? +members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” - What do Mormons believe about the afterlife? + After an individual is resurrected, they will be judged by Jesus as part of the Final Judgment. There are three degrees or kingdoms of glory which are the ultimate, eternal dwelling places for nearly all who lived on earth; a degree of glory is assigned to the person at the Final Judgment. - God has revealed himself through, various covenants, the prophets, and through Jesus Christ most fully - God has chosen to reveal himself so that we can attain union with God or Theosis - Jesus is the complete revelation because He is the definitive World of God sent from the Father and all revelation is fulfilled, summed up and personified in Jesus. - Grace assists humans in responding to the totality of God's Revelation by enlightening the intellect and moves the will/ heart of us. - Theosis is the transformative power that units us with God - Dogma is a divinely revealed truth/teaching that comes from God - The deposit of faith is the word of God, saving body of truths contained in sacred scripture and sacred tradition - Concupiscence is the tendency toward or inordinate desire for evil/sin in humans after the fall of the first parents - Divine pedagogy is the fact that God reveals himself to humans gradually by steps in history - Jesus Christ is the fullness of God's revelation - Without divine revelation, we could not know quickly and accurately the naturally knowable truths about God. - The Son of God was sent by the Father to complete the divine revelation.
- The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to sustain and guide the Church in God's Revelation. - The Pascal mystery is the passion, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. - Hebrew 1:1 says that divine revelation in time past, God spoke through prophets and now He has spoken through his Son the fullness and completion of Divine Revelation. - Jesus was both the message and the messenger of revelation because Jesus came preaching about the Kingdom of God in the Flesh. - Revelation is first and foremost a person not an idea or statement to be believed. - God offers the Gift of faith to all people who will follow - Faith is more certain than acquired human knowledge because it’s founded on the very Word of God who cannot lie - The primary object of our faith is God Himself - The relationship of faith to hope and love is that Faith is the Root and foundation of hope and love - When we lose faith, it is always a deliberate choice - Heaven is a grace given by God, it is undeserved and not earned - No one can be forced to embrace the faith against their will it is always a deliberate choice. - The definition of faith found in Hebrew 11 is that Faith is the substance of thing to be hope for, and evidence of things that appear not.
