Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he
dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by
himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long
way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch
of the night, he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on
the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately
Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
And Peter answered him,
“Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said, “Come.” So, Peter got
out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was
afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”
Jesus immediately reached out his
hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
And when
they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you
are the Son of God.”

Yes, Jesus and Peter share dialogue.
What questions are asked in the passage? Please list all
questions located in the passage.
Peter asked Jesus to walk on water.
Jesus asked O you of little faith, why did you doubt.
How would you answer each of the questions asked (in at least 3 sentences)?
I would have asked Jesus to walk on water also, and more than likely been afraid of the wind like
Peter. I would answer Jesus telling him I was afraid, due to things I cannot control like the weather. However, if I had completely surrendered to Jesus in that moment, I would have nothing to fear.
What words or phrases stand out to you, and why? Are any words/themes repeated? If so, share why you think there is repetition. Please answer with at least 3 sentences.

The phrase that stands out to me is when Jesus says, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” For me personally we are all human and doubt and worry about significant and insignificant issues or problems in our life. If we all surrendered every ounce of our being to Jesus, we would have nothing to fear or doubt because Jesus delivered us with the ultimate sacrifice and will continue to deliver us as we keep our faith in him.
What questions do you have as you read this passage? If you have no questions, please explain why this might be the case.
What would it take for me to not be like Peter? He blindly trusted the Lord at first like many of us do, however when the world threw him a curve, he doubted like many of us do. So, my real question is how I maintain the integrity of my faith in Christ when the world throws me a curve. Step Four: Pray
Use this space to formulate a prayer to God, dialoguing with Him about what he may be speaking to you in this passage:
Lord,
You know me and you know my heart. I am a sinner and even though you have washed me clean
of sin I can still strengthen my faith in you! When the world presents me with a problem grant me discernment to deal with challenges as they come and no matter what allow me to receive comfort that my faith is in you alone and you will calm the waters for me. As always Lord I am just trying to be your man in your plan and in your time.
I ask all these things in Jesus Name!

Just as I prayed in the above step! I have faith in Jesus, and I am still a man that balances a full-
time career, family, faith, among a million other things like most men do. I find myself at times asking why I feel like a fail at one or more of the things I am juggling day to day. However, I cannot do these things on my own, so my faith in Jesus will calm all storms in my life and guide me to where I am doing what he needs me to do on his timeline and not mine. Page 3 of 4
