Having read the passage in both formal and functional translation, list at least 2 similarities and 3 differences between the way both translations cover this story. You may list as many similarities and differences that you find as long as you meet the minimum amount. Do not use King James for the formal translations.

Similarity – Both versions say that Paul had a vision and following that he very quickly went to Macedonia. b.
Similarity – The course of the text in both translations in the same. The wording does have differences, but the overall concept is the same.
c.
Difference – The KJV and NIV has different sayings when they tried to enter Bithynia. NIV says, “The Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to”. However, the KJV says, “Spirit suffered them not”.
d.
Difference - When Paul tried to preach in Asia, the two texts had different responses. NIV said they had “been kept by the Holy Spirit”. The KJV states that they had been “forbidden”. e.
Difference - The NIV version said the words are of the Holy Spirit, but the KJV version says it is told as the Holy Ghost. C. Identify the basic elements of the story you are studying

2. Plot: (50-100 words)
Paul and his companions traveled through Galatia and Phrygia but were unable to enter Asia on half of the Holy Spirit. Instead, they went to Troas and while there Paul had a vision of a man needing help in Macedonia. Paul and his companions travel to Macedonia and on the sabbath they go to the river right by the city and speak to woman that were there. Lydia who was one of the women there, replies to this message and gets her and her household baptized. She then asks Paul and his companions to join their household. 3. Exposition
: Paul and his companions are on a missionary journey after God told them not to go to Asia, so they stay in Troas.
Rising Action
: Paul had a vision that the Holy Spirit sent him, and it was of a man that needs help in Macedonia.
Climax
: Paul urgently gets up and immediately set track on the way to Macedonia. Falling Action
: Paul ends up speaking a message to the woman outside of the game and then baptizes Lydia and the rest of her household.
Resolution
: Lydia convinces Paul and his companions to stay at her house because she told Paul she believes he is a follower of Christ so they should stay. D. -They intended to travel to Asia next however the Holy Spirit wouldn’t allow that
- They next tried to go to Bithynia, but God wouldn’t allow them, so they went to Troas.
-While it was night Paul had a vison of a man needing help in Macedonia. Him and his crew immediately went to help.
- They planned their course and went through Samothrace, then Neapolis, and then Philippi. They then went to Macedonia. - Paul goes outside the gate of the city on the sabbath looking for a place to pray and ends up finding a group of women he begins speaking to.
-One woman named Lydia was from Thyatira.
- She was a follower of Christ and knew what Paul was preaching.
-Lydia and the rest of her household was baptized after that and stated that if Paul believed she was a follower, then he should stay with her.
-Paul stays with Lydia. 3.

5. Why: -Paul was traveling so much because he was on missionary journeys to spread the word to everyone that Jesus is the Messiah. -Paul went to Macedonia because he had a vison from God, and he felt called to go there.
