Instructions
The purpose of this assignment is to
deepen your learning from
teaching
or engaging in the material
outside of class.
This write-up is
not
meant to be a regurgitation of the material to the teacher or solely
a summary of your conversation about this course.
Responses must show thought, reflection,
pondering and depth with college-level writing skills.
1.
Provide a simple statement answering who you shared with.
I shared with my friend Keith Manamela.
2.
In a brief paragraph, identify the questions or insights from your personal study that
informed your thinking as you prepared for your discussion.
My discussion was mostly based on President Russell M. Nelson’s talk titled “Celestial Marriage”
to discuss the significance of
temple marriage, but I also emphasized the importance of our
covenants
and ordinances.
3.
In 1-2 paragraph(s), write about what you learned as a result of this conversation. What
was this conversation about? What direct lines or quotes from our reading material or
your research were you referencing or thinking about as you had this intentional
conversation?
Family
Proclamation: "In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshipped
God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical
body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine
destiny as heirs of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be
perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it
possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally."
Celestial Marriage by President Russell M. Nelson “These truths are absolute. Members of this
Church invite all people to learn them and to qualify for eternal life. We invite all to gain faith in
God the Eternal Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ, to repent, to receive the Holy Ghost, to obtain
the blessings of the temple, to make and keep sacred covenants, and to endure to the end.”
I choose to direct my conversations this way because the last time I noticed that Keith was
undecided about getting married or not.
I was expecting that this discussion can help him discover
the importance of firstly marriage but also how important the covenants are to all of us children of
God. This discussion also made me realized that myself need to get endowed. I have
procrastinating for a while now and was planning on doing it next semester but now I think it
might good to just do it right now while I have the desire.
.
In 1-2 paragraph(s), write about what you learned as a result of this conversation.
Answer the following questions:
o
What deepened connections and insights did you feel because of this
conversation?
o
What did you agree/disagree with in your discussions? How did you handle this?
o
Did anything discussed change your thinking? If so, what and how?
o
How will you build on this knowledge to strengthen your family (now and/or in
the future)?
o
What do you feel inspired to do now that you have read the material
and
engaged in this conversation?
Keith and I both agreed that even though he is still undecided on the decision, he should talk about it
with his girlfriend, and they should together pray about it to find their answer. It also made me
realized
that covenants are really important and sacred in God’s plan for us. So, feel like we should all take our
time, pray and be ready before we make them and be sure to never break them. It is crucial that we keep
them and endure to the end. I have been ready for a long time to be endowed but I have been feeling
the pressure of my family since they are not
members and that has been making me push the time
again and again, but I know that I should definitely pray about it and come up with the right time to take
this new step.
