[Last Name] 1 Julian Archie Professor Lang REL 2591 09/25/22 Reflection of the Papal letter Rerum Novarum In the first point of the Rerum Novarum there were statements where he compares people social class and based off that it shows how they respond to certain situations. He gave examples of how a wise men would go about things, and it would be them discussing it. Then he said practical men proposing schemes. It also went into detail about politics and how poverty affects a nation in great mass. The first point also mentioned how the spirit of revolutionary change helped the world as a whole and is slowly creating a good change. The 2 nd point is really focusing on how much respect the wealthy get and how much disrespect the poor get. It also is telling the story of how this trend has been going for some time and how it even happens within the church. This also puts in perspective all other matters equal to this because they make social class like racism the way they’re treated. The 3 rd point states how nobody helped or stopped the harassment toward the workingmen class they made them look helpless and miserable. The Church did promote this behavior, but you would think somebody would try to stand up for them or something. It got so bad toward them that working-class men were compared to slaves by the rich men. The 4 th point the socialist tried to help the poor men by changing all the “private property” to public and allow others to use it. Sadly, their plan failed because of the simple fact that contentions were weak and in the long run would cause more harm than good. The 5 th point brings to life how the landowners would abuse their power and either cut the workers' wages or make them pay excessively to live on a piece of their land. The reason why I say abuse is because they come to an agreement that benefits both parties but they end up backstabbing them

It also goes into detail about comparing men to animals and the biggest difference between the 2 of us how men have function in the mind to want to prevail and be humble unlike animals who don’t feel emotion such as embarrassment. The 7 th point is just describing why a man wants something or needs it. It also tells how they reason without really thinking. How they link the future with the present and mastering his own acts. The 8 th point is stating that there is no such thing as private property because God himself gave us this world so all can live on and do great things for him. For someone to call it their own is wrong because it truly isn’t there's. It also says there will never be a price on land because it is technically priceless. The 9 th point is explaining how a whole piece of land can’t truly be owned by one man because by the law of nature he isn’t using it. The law of nature basically when you use that land it is yours but the piece that you do n’t use isn’t yours. Even though the man isn’t using it the 9 th point says he’s just holding it because it boosts his “confidence”. The 10 th point is summing all the other 9 points about men and how they perceive things and react towards certain situations. It also talks about the law of nature and explains it into a simpler detail.
