2.1#2 Everyone's growth experience is not perfect. Before taking the MACP course, | did not realize that my classmates, like me, had also experienced trauma. But it is precisely the trauma we have experienced that has shaped our current life path. There is a common saying in China, "Having experi- enced rain, one wishes to hold an umbrella for others." Learning to use the BPS structure to treat ourselves is a necessary course for all of us who are about to become counselors, and this will be a continuous process through- out our entire career. When | unconsciously used the Bio-psycho-social framework approach(Collins, 2020) on myself, | had not yet begun the systematic study of the psychological counseling course.Psychologically, | improved my cognitive system by reading many philosophy and psychology books, being aware of my emotions when they arise; biologically, | gradually real- ized the importance of physical health, telling myself that negative emotions may just be due to lack of rest, and not overly blaming myself(Shebib, 2022); socially, | understood that people needed to integrate into the group to feel their own value(Adler, 1956), so | started to actively establish health- ier intimate relationships. Barrett's video was highly enlightening to me, as it helped me understand how emotions are learned, interpreted, and predicted by the brain (TED, 2018). Rather than passively receiving and being controlled by emotions, we can fully master our own emotions through learning and training, and this realization is very encouraging. Previously, psychologists observed that each person's behavior pattern is influenced by past experiences, and this pattern is likely to continue for the rest of their life (Muller, 2017). This is why some believe a happy childhood can heal a lifetime, while an unhappy childhood needs a lifetime to heal. However, the development of Biopsy- chology gives clients and counselors a great positive force (Shebib, 2022). Neuroplasticity shows that we can train our brains through a series of sci- entific exercises: for example, practicing effective ways of thinking and changing existing behavior patterns by imagining positive images. | believe this method can also be applied to counselors themselves, as a way to in- tervene in and prevent burnout. Like a fitness trainer we need to train our own brain everyday, consistently maintaining learning, staying aware, and keeping hope for both ourselves and our clients. Muller, N. (2017).
