PSY 328 Module One Journal Template First, select an image from the Module One Journal Images document. Next, complete this template by replacing the bracketed text with the relevant information. Identify the image (A–E) that you selected. The image I selected was Figure C: A nonbinary student talking to a friend in front of their locker (The Gender Spectrum Collection as licensed by CC BY-NC-ND 2.0). Describe what happened before the image was taken. Your response should be about 2 to 3 sentences in length. Right before this image was taken, the nonbinary student was in class when their teacher decided to split the class by boys and girls. When the student failed to go to a side, the teacher told the student that they should go to the side that’s indicated on their school documents. Describe what is happening in the image. Your response should be about 2 to 3 sentences in length. In the image, the student asked their friend to meet them in front of their locker to talk about what happened. The student told their friend they decided to just leave the class and they’re thinking about dropping the class. Describe what the subjects are feeling or thinking in the image. Your response should be about 2 to 3 sentences in length. The nonbinary student is feeling misunderstood, embarrassed, with a bit of rage. Although the LBGTQ+ community was expanding in their school, they felt that the more they fought to just be respected and listened to, the more push back they get from all angles. Their friend is also feeling the pressure of being invisible and misunderstood, though they seem to have lost the desire to fight for change. Describe what will happen next . Your response should be about 2 to 3 sentences in length. After discussing their feelings surrounding the events that took place in the classroom, the two students decided to go to their school guidance counselor to talk about what their next steps can be. The guidance counselor lets the students know that this is a good learning opportunity all around. The counselor empowers the students to be vocal about disrespect they feel and that it can ultimately lead to educating those around them. 1
